A 57-year-old Rogers man died as a result of injuries he sustained in an officer-involved shooting that occurred at approximately 10:36 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2023.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) has requested ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division to investigate this incident.

The incident occurred after a WCSO deputy attempted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Scottie Stacy on Beav-O-Rama Road in rural northeast Washington County. During the encounter, a deputy fired his service weapon, striking Stacy, who was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

The deceased was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where manner and cause of death will be determined. The investigation is ongoing.

An investigative case file will be presented to the prosecuting attorney, who will determine whether the use of deadly force by officers was consistent with Arkansas law.
