An area law-enforcement agency is using a new tool to assist owners in reuniting with stolen property. According to a recent report from KYTV/KSPR, the Howell County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with ProtectDNA in utilizing its program “DNA for Property.”
The program reportedly supplies those ordering a kit with a gel containing microscopic dots and stickers for items. When a property owner receives a kit, the gel or sticker will be placed on the property, and the owner will disclose the information on the ProtectDNA app. If law enforcement recovers an item with the gel or sticker, they will be able to return it to the rightful owner.
ProtectDNA has reportedly been working with law-enforcement agencies for 11 years. Howell County is using its technology at no extra cost. For more information on DNA for Property, go to protectdna.com.
