If you are on parole and go to visit another person on parole, it is not wise to have drug paraphernalia in your vehicle in case probation and parole officers come calling.
That happened to 53-year-old Steven McCool in late March. McCool, whose last known address was listed as Salesville, was arrested along with the homeowner, 40-year-old Jonathan G. Foshee, when a compliance visit was conducted on Foshee.
McCool appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday and pled guilty to his charges. He was sentenced to five years probation on a charge of possessing drug paraphernalia.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Foshee told officers that all of the drugs and drug-related paraphernalia located in the house, including methamphetamine, marijuana, pills containing acetaminophen and hydrocodone, smoking pipes and digital scales, were his.
McCool’s vehicle was searched, and in the center console, a syringe and glass pipe both containing a white residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine were located.
Because both men were on parole, they had waivers on file that permit warrantless searches of their person and property.
According to court records, McCool had a number of criminal cases opened on him in Crawford County. He was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of breaking or entering and theft of property.
His parole is shown to end in June 2027.
Foshee has had several criminal cases opened on him as well and has an open drug-related case stemming from the compliance visit.
