A woman alleged to have hit, kicked and attempted to head butt jail staff working to secure her in a restraint chair appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.
Forty-eight-year-old Shannon Michelle Robertson, who listed an address in Mountain View, pled not guilty to charges of second-degree battery on a police/corrections officer and impairing the operations of a vital public facility.
Both charges are Class C felonies.
On Dec. 21 last year, Robertson was brought to the Baxter County Detention Center by Mountain Home police to be booked into the jail.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Robertson was reported to have become aggressive and violent upon arrival at the jail.
She was also said to have mentioned taking her own life.
As jail staff attempted to get Robertson secured into a restraint chair, she used her fingernails in an attempt to injure herself and jail staff.
Robertson was reported to have dug her fingernails into a jail matron’s finger causing a small laceration. The matron was sent to the emergency room at Baxter Health to be examined and treated. Restitution for the hospital visit is being requested on behalf of the Baxter County Sheriff’s office.
Robertson is free on $2,000 bond.
