The National Weather Service has confirmed that Arkansas experienced five tornadoes as Tropical Storm Beryl blew through the natural state on July 8th-9th. All the tornadoes were ruled an EF1 or lower with winds from 65 to 110 miles per hour.
There were two confirmed tornadoes in Dallas County, two in Jefferson County and one in White County. Though none of the early July tornadoes were rated higher than EF-2, there was still significant damage done in the affected areas. The National Weather Service is still conducting surveys to determine the count and strength of the tornadoes, meaning the number of tornadoes could climb, as could the Fujita scale for select tornadoes.
The five tornadoes that occurred earlier in the week bring the total to 40 tornadoes in the state for 2024.
