MacLeod victorious in state tournament opener

The Mountain Home MacLeod had a successful opener in the Arkansas Junior State Tournament on the campus of Little Rock Christian Academy. MacLeod defeated the Little Rock Rockies 7-5 on Tuesday.

After the Rockies scored the first two runs in the third inning, Mountain Home took the lead in the fourth frame. Will Morris drew a walk with the bases loaded, Erik Foster followed with a two-run single, and Koen Bickford was later hit by a pitch with the bases juiced. Little Rock tied the game back up in the fifth, but MacLeod retook the lead for good in the sixth.

Maddex Chism picked up the win as he pitched six innings, recorded one strikeout and gave up three hits, six walks and one earned run. Truett Lindsey took the mound in the seventh inning to earn the save.

Foster led Mountain Home by going 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs, and Landon Newton was 2-for-3. Both also ended up with multiple stolen bases.
