Two registered sex offenders have relocated to Baxter County. According to Sheriff John Montgomery, 37-year-old Dustin Matthews and 41-year-old Cody Thompson are residing north of Mountain Home at 3506 Arkansas Highway 201 North, Lot 15.
Matthews is a Level 3 offender, considered at a high risk to reoffend, who relocated from Randolph County. He was convicted of child molestation in September 2008. The offense involved the then 20-year-old Matthews engaging in sexual contact with an 11-year-old female acquaintance.
Thompson has not been assigned a risk level by the Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment. He was arrested in May 2003 in Polk County, Fla., on felony counts of sexual assault upon a child victim under 12 years of age and child fondling. Less than a year later, he was convicted of an amended charge of attempted sexual assault and child fondling. He was also convicted of failing to register as a sex offender in July 2011 in Gordon County, Ga., and in August 2013 in Floyd County, Ga.
Matthews and Thompson are currently not wanted by law enforcement. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcements ability to do community notification.
