With District 11 Justice of the Peace Ty Chapman absent, the court unanimously approved of every ordinance and resolution requiring a vote.

The quorum court approved the appropriation of $10,532 in fees and reimbursements to the sheriff’s office budget. They also appropriated $75,000 from the jail maintenance and operation fund to the jail maintenance and operation budget, $5,000 from the road and bridge fund to the road and bridge department budget, $40,000 from the county general fund to the building and grounds budget and $10,000 from the county general fund into the animal control budget.

The court also heard the first reading of a proposed ordinance establishing a direct deposit system. Baxter County employees would have their pay deposited directly into their bank accounts instead of being given an actual paycheck. No action was taken because the court will not cast a vote until the third reading.

The proposed ordinance to change the name of the voluntary contribution for animal control funding to animal control/shelter was removed from the agenda. It is expected to be taken up during a future meeting.

The court also approved of two resolutions for appointments to a pair of fire protection district board of commissioners. Heather Rosenlof will serve a three-year term at Tracy Area that will expire June 2027, and Luke Glasscock and Nathan Byrd were reappointed for three-year terms at Lone Rock through September 2027.
