Friday football results include Izard County losing 1st road game as 11-man team

The Izard County High School football team had a rough night in its first road game as an 11-man program. The Cougars went to Cave City on Friday and suffered a 42-7 defeat. Izard County falls to 0-2 on the season, and they’ll finish non-conference play next week at Quitman.

Melbourne was successful in its first home outing of the season. The Bearkatz were able to shut out Bald Knob by a final of 28-0. Melbourne improves to 2-0 on the year, and their last non-conference game will be next week at Cave City.

Mountain View picked up its first victory since returning to 11-man football. The Yellowjackets ended up defeating Berryville 24-7. Mountain View is now 1-1, and they’ll return to the road in two weeks for their non-conference finale at Piggott.

On the eight-man level, Marshall concluded the night with its first loss of the season. The Bobcats were tripled up by Cedar Ridge 36-12. Marshall drops to 1-1, they’ll finish their three-game home stand next week against Rector.
