Area basketball teams see busy Tuesday evening

Gymnasiums across the area where full Tuesday evening with the sights and sounds of basketball as early season games continued.Cotter was on the road to Lead Hill with coach Wilhite reporting a win for the junior high girls team of 34-14. Lily McNutt contributed nearly half of the points for the Warriors with 16 points. The junior boys also secured a win against the tigers of 45-23. Leading in scoring was Konner Woods with 18 points and Logan Guthrie with 11 points. The junior boys now have a record on the season of 1-1. The varsity boys saw a loss falling to Lead Hill 65-85. David Roger and Kolby Woods led in scoring for the Warriors with 24 points and 10 points respectively.

Flippin played host to Alpena with coach Greenhaw saying the girls teams had a successful night in both games. At the junior high level it was a win for the Bobcats with final score 42-12. Layla Warren had 11 points and 5 assists, Jakayla Griffin with 10points and 5 rebounds, and Hadley Moore chipped in 7pts. The senior girls kept up the momentum against the Leapards finishing the game with a strong defensive effort and a final score 64-26. Alyssa Shelton posted 25 points and 6 assists. The senior boys was busy offensively with a final score against Alpena of 96-25.

Elsewhere, Calico Rock senior boys where able to defeat visiting Hillcrest with a score of 72-57. Mammoth Spring fell at home against Bay 70-55. Bergman was on the road to Jasper and left with wins, for the boys 71-54 and the girls team finished 58-50.
