POCAHONTAS, Ark. (KAIT) – A Pocahontas native got the unique opportunity to be a contestant on Wheel of Fortune.

On Monday, Oct. 28, Brent Miller’s family held a watch party at First United Methodist Church to see what he won.

Miller won $120,704, including a trip to St. Lucia.

He said he plans to bring his sister on that trip because they never get to travel by themselves.

Miller was required to sign a non-disclosure agreement so, what he won was a secret that had been kept since July, when the episode was filmed.

“When you know if you don’t keep the secret, you may not get the money. That’s a big deal, so it makes it pretty easy to keep it,” he said.

Miller’s mom and dad were there and were the only two people he could talk to about winning.

“I really wasn’t surprised when he made it to the end of the round, I’ll be honest with you. Because he’s a pretty good puzzle solver, but when he won the 100 thousand, that’s when I was shocked‚” Miller’s mom Sharon said.

Brent Miller said he saw at the end of each show how to apply to be a contestant, and he did just that. He got further into the process and was eventually selected.

Miller said he grew up watching Wheel of Fortune with his grandparents, and now he will get to see himself on the show.

“For me, it was something I really grew up with. I really lucky to know both sets of my grandparents and so whenever I would stay with them as a child, you always watched KAIT, and then Wheel of Fortune at 6:30. That’s something I’ve always done,” he said, “It’s always been a part of my life and it was something I factored into it.”

Miller said he was just himself throughout the whole process.

“People have asked me like, “What do I need to do to get on the show,” and I’m like, “I really don’t know,” because I was just myself because I knew, I gotta be me,” he said. “I can’t play a character or anything like that on Wheel of Fortune, so I just introduced myself, propped my phone up against the laptop, and told them where I was from and why I loved Wheel of Fortune.”

Miller’s other plans include paying off student loan debt along with other things he’s undecided on.

“The fact that I won, especially that amount of money, I’m very much still just kind of processing that. I guess all the adrenaline will settle in later and I’ll figure out what to do with it,” he said.
