Walmart is recalling over 12,000 cartons of Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth due to packaging issues that may lead to spoilage, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall, which was initiated on December 11 and announced on the FDA’s website on January 8, involves products sold in 242 stores across nine states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.

The affected cartons are labeled with a “best used by” date of March 25, 2026, and feature the UPC code 007874206684. In total, 2,023 cases, each containing six cartons, are part of the recall.

“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority,” a Walmart spokesperson stated. “As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we took action to remove all impacted product from the select, impacted stores. We are continuing to work with the supplier to investigate.”

Customers who have purchased the recalled product are urged not to consume it. They should discard the broth and may request a full refund from Walmart.

No illnesses have been reported in connection with this recall.
