The Mountain Home High School baseball team had a tough road trip as they were swept in a 5A-West doubleheader Tuesday at Greenwood. The Bombers lost the opener 8-4, and the Bulldogs also took the late game 5-0. Mountain Home falls to 10-6 on the season and 2-4 in the league.
Cotter was able to pick up a win on the road. The Warriors doubled up Salem by a final of 6-3.
Norfork came away with another win in front of the home crowd. The Panthers shut out Ozark Mountain 10-0.
Flippin had a short but successful road trip. The Bobcats doubled up Yellville-Summit 14-7 at Yellville City Park.
Viola ended up welcoming another team from across the state line. The Longhorns squeaked by Alton 4-3.
Bakersfield and Gainesville played what ended up being a high-scoring game. The Lions edged out the Bulldogs 12-11.
Izard County was able to defeat Tuckerman 6-1 at Brockwell. Cash Arnhart picked up the win as he pitched a complete game, struck out eight batters and gave up five hits and no walks. Noah Mosley led the Cougars with two hits and two RBIs, Arnhart added a double and drove in a run, Braxton McCandlis and Dawson Beard both added hits, and Izard County stole five bases with two coming from Kade Yancey. The Cougars are now 8-2 on the year and 3-1 in the 2A-2.
In softball, Bakersfield went on the road and took on another group of Lady Lions. Bakersfield got past Manfield by a score of 16-13.
Salem was able to sweep a doubleheader over Valley Springs. The Lady Greyhounds beat the Lady Tigers 12-0 and 15-0.
Izard County had a tough day on the home field. The Lady Cougars ended up losing to Tuckerman 9-0.
Mountain View eeked out a conference win at Cave City. The Lady Yellowjackets topped the Cavewomen 3-2.
Harrison lost a road game for the second straight night. The Lady Goblins fell at Elkins 17-2.
