Earlier this weekend, District 4 State Rep. Jason Nazarenko outlined a pair of bills that were passed this past week in the House chamber, but there was plenty of other action taken during the current legislative session in Little Rock. District 3 Rep. Stetson Painter of Mountain Home says legislators have been starting around 8 each morning in committee meetings, and they’ve often walked off the House floor with their final votes around 11:30 at night.

Painter outlines a number of bills voted on this week by the House and some of the committee recommendations.

Painter says with the amendments to Senate Bill 290, designed to prohibit moratoriums on the issuance of permits in watersheds and other bodies of water in Arkansas, he believes that discussions of effects on the Buffalo National River should be finished, and he hopes everyone in the government will keep their promise to leave the river alone. Painter says the bill was positioned as a right-to-farm act, but there was more to the legislation.
