Steve and Julie Lacine have been proudly tuning in weekly from their home in Flippin as one of their 19 grandchildren is making waves on this year’s season of American Idol.
At only 15 years old their granddaughter Mattie Pruitt has quickly made a splash in tinsel town, wowing judges from the very beginning. Her audition turned heads with the judges awarding her a “Golden Ticket” an honor given to the best of the best and securing her a one way ticket to Hollywood. Carrie Underwood was so impressed with her audition she commented that Mattie, “performs beyond her years.”
Mattie and her siblings live in the Nashville area and the Lacine’s always knew their granddaughter had a special gift.

The show which airs weekly on ABC Networks was filmed in November last year and early in January this year. Mrs. Lacine says she got to fly out and see some of the taping but it has been difficult to keep the secret of how well Mattie has been doing as they wait for all the episodes to air.

The Lacine’s say although Mattie is young she is motivated to succeed by her love of singing and that the trappings of money and fame are far from her mind. They expect either by winning the show or through other opportunities their granddaughter will soon sign to a record contract and build a career as a chart topping singer. In the mean time they will continue to tune their TV set in on Sunday and Monday evenings as they cheer on their little girl who has always had a song to sing.
