Calico Rock boys win 1A-2 Conference Meet; Norfork boys finish 2nd, girls end up 3rd

The 1A-2 Conference Meet was one of two postseason track meets held Monday at F.S. Garrison Stadium in Harrison.
Calico Rock was crowned the champions on the boys’ side. Norfork finished second, Timbo was third, Rural Special ended up tied for fifth, and Viola took seventh place.
Individuals wins were captured by Norfork’s Noah Shaw in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles; fellow Panther Ransom Gibson in the discus throw; Andrew Ponson of Viola in the 100-meter dash, the long jump and the shot put; Calico Rock’s Landon Russell in the 200-meter dash; Riley Callahan of Timbo in the 1600-meter run and the triple jump; fellow Tiger Jaxon Wilkins in the 400-meter dash; Timbo’s Kaleb Patrick in the high jump; Casen Cowell of Timbo in the pole vault; Rural Special’s Brayden Watts in the 800-meter run; and fellow Rebel Waylon Pagett in the 3200-meter run. Norfork’s team of Shaw, Skyler McClelland, Corbin Stover and Carson Beavers won the 4×100-meter and 4×200-meter relays; Joe McDole, Heath Brothers, Russell and Damian Lee of Calico Rock won the 4×400-meter relay; and Rural Special’s Jake Currie, Shane McBroom, Pagett and Watts won the 4×800-meter relay.
The girls’ team title was won by Greers Ferry West Side. Rural Special finished second, Norfork was third, Calico Rock ended up fourth, Timbo took fifth place, and Viola finished seventh.
Among the individual victories, Aimee Johnson of Norfork won the 200-meter and 400-meter dashes, fellow Lady Panther Maggie Tyrone won the high jump, Norfork’s Shelby Free won the triple jump, Missy Wilson of Viola won the 3200-meter run, Calico Rock’s Scarlett Owens won the discus, Mallory Mosley of Timbo won the 800-meter run and the pole vault, Rural Special’s Bellah Kirby won the 100-meter dash, and fellow Lady Rebel Rieley Sutterfield won the long jump. Norfork’s team of Johnson, Avery Davis, Cate Shaddy and Tyrone won the 4×200-meter relay; Kendall Kocher, Aubrey Linville, Kadeance Garrison and Jorja Stewart of Rural Special won the 4×800-meter relay; and Rural Special’s Sutterfield, Linville, Allysa Stone and Kirby won the 4×100-meter relay.

Two other area schools were also at F.S. Garrison Stadium for the 1A-1 West Conference Meet.
Kingston came away with the girls’ title. Omaha was second, and Lead Hill ended up fourth.
Individually, Kennedy Hudson of Lead Hill won the pole vault, and Omaha’s Riley Hopson 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run. Omaha’s team of Maddie Pyshny, Brooklyn Stone, Kadien Gilbert and Morgan Schmidt won the 4×400-meter relay; and Pyshny, Stone, Gilbert and Nora Rantz of Omaha won the 4×200-meter relay.
The boys’ championship was won by Founders Classical Academy. Lead Hill took third place, and Omaha finished fourth.
In the individual results, Lead Hill’s Nolan Turner won the 110-meter hurdles and the high jump, Tyler Liggett of Omaha won the triple jump, and fellow Eagle Jonathan McKinney won the pole vault.
