Brandii Hampton has a fairly extensive record. She has been charged with computer fraud, forgery, stealing credit cards, checks and personal information in Arkansas and Missouri.

The 43-year-old Hampton appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court April 21 to answer to her local charges, including 10 counts of theft of property, 11 counts of non-financial identity theft and 10 counts of forgery.

She pled not guilty. Hampton has expressed an interest in wrapping up all of the charges against her and has filed a motion for a speedy trial in her Baxter County cases.

Hampton is now serving time in the McPherson Unit of the state prison system in Newport on earlier charges.

Her local charges were filed in late August 2023. Mountain Home police began an investigation into Hampton’s activities after receiving information from a Missouri law enforcement agency that Hampton was suspected of involvement in the theft of a company’s checkbook from a truck, also belonging to the business, that had been stolen.

Multiple checks had been passed at a Mountain Home grocery and at an auto parts store.

Hampton was said to have used another person’s identification in passing the checks.

On Aug. 9, 2023, she was stopped by a Cotter police officer and cited for failure to register her vehicle and having no proof of liability insurance.

Through the years, she has had felony cases opened on her in Ashley, Baxter, Boone and Union counties in Arkansas and several counties in Missouri.

The first case was opened in 2005 in Boone County where she was charged with forgery and theft of property.

In a 2017 Boone County case, Hampton used the identifying information of a couple to open or attempt to open credit accounts with Target, Lending Club, Walmart, Best Buy, PayPal, Discover Card and Amazon.

In many of the cases, Hampton is charged with using a computer to access networks allowing her to make applications for loans or credit cards.

In another case in Boone County, Hampton is reported to have stolen a check and passed it at the Walmart in Harrison.

Store staff was able to locate a video of the transaction. Hampton was identified as the person cashing the check, and it was noted she had two children with her. The children were identified by a school resource officer and a secretary. A school nurse also confirmed the identity.

When Hampton was questioned, she denied that she was the one pictured in the video and that the two children were hers.

Hampton said she took methamphetamine and that when she was under the influence of the drug, she could not remember details of her activities.

Investigators obtain permission to speak to the oldest child, and he identified Hampton as his mother and the other child in the video as his brother.

He said he remembered being in Walmart and buying “a bunch of stuff.” He said the family had recently gotten a dog and that they purchased items for the animal.

During the span of time she was picking up her charges, Hampton was once sent to the 14th Judicial District Drug Court Program, but she washed out of the program after testing positive for amphetamines and failing to submit to a drug test.

She was also put in a Community Corrections Center for addiction treatment.

According to the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Hampton has used at least 10 aliases at various times.

In April last year, Hampton was arrested after Ashley County sheriff’s deputies and members of the Inmate Recovery Response Team from the Arkansas Department of Corrections came to her residence along Arkansas Highway 189 looking for her.

Hampton, who was then going by the last name of Craig, was found sitting on the couch and was taken into custody as was a male who was located in a bedroom.

Both Hampton and the male were listed as felons.

Firearms were found under the mattress, a sawed-off .410 shotgun and a .22 rifle. It is a parole violation for a felon to be in possession of a weapon.

In a 2021 Ashley County case, Hampton was charged with using the account of a construction company to make payments on a personal credit card account and to pay her satellite internet bill.
