The Norfork High School baseball team is one win away from the championship of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Clysta Willett Park in Mountain Home. The Panthers dominated its semifinal game over Magazine by a 28-4 decision.
Norfork’s final opponent in the tournament will be Scranton. Jasper was edged out by the Rockets 12-11.
Izard County will be playing for the title of the Class 2A Region 2 Baseball Tournament at Sloan-Hendrix High School in Imboden. The Cougars pulled off a 5-3 upset over Riverside.
Melbourne suffered a defeat in the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 2 Baseball Tournament at Cave City. The Bearkatz lost to Walnut Ridge 8-3.
Cotter’s softball team lost its semifinals game in the Class 2A Region 1 Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Lady Warriors fell to Acorn 10-0.
Calico Rock came up short in the semifinals of the Class 1A Region 2 Softball Tournament at West Side High School in Greers Ferry. The Lady Pirates lost to the host Lady Eagles 14-10.
Two area teams advanced to the title game of the Class 3A Region 2 Softball Tournament at Cave City. Salem defeated Rivercrest 6-2, and Melbourne routed Walnut Ridge 11-1.
