The Mountain Home Track and Field team secured it’s 2nd consecutive state title this spring and one of its most integral parts will continue his career at the division one level. Eli Jones excelled in throwing the discus and shotput for the Bombers and was a huge part in them securing another state title. In the fall he will continue his academic and track & field career at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.Jones says that his track journey began in 2020 in the 7th grade, but his season, along with many others, was thrown an unusual curveball during that school year.

Jones knew when he was in junior high that he could throw the discus and shotput in college.

Jones said he loved everything about UCA and it’s track and field program on his visit.

His high school career culminated in him flying by the competition at the Meet of Champs, a conglomeration of the best throwers in the state of Arkansas.

Jones was also a captain for the Bomber Football team who had one of the most historic seasons in school history.
