The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public that a registered sex offender has moved to the county after relocating from Macon, Georgia. Thirty-six-year-old Kenneth George is residing at 337 Buford Rd. in Gassville.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, George has been assigned a Level 2 offender, meaning he has a moderate risk to re-offend. He was convicted of statutory rape in Barrow County, Georgia on Feb. 27, 2009 and sentenced to 7 months confinement. He was later convicted in Cherokee County, Georgia on January 7, 2011 for failure to register as sex offender with the same conviction handed a year later and then again another year later in Lumpkin County, Georgia. No specific information is available on the details of his original charge.

George is currently not wanted by law enforcement. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather it is the sheriff’s belief an informed public is a safer public. This information cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders. Citizen abuse will not be tolerated. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to do community notification.
