The Norfork School Board Monday night named a permanent superintendent and hired a new boys’ basketball coach during a special meeting. Richard Blevins, who has served as the Interim Superintendent at Norfork since February, was hired as the school’s Superintendent and Cole Ford, a Mountain Home Graduate, was hired as the new boys’ basketball coach.
Nine people had applied for the superintendent’s position and the school board had narrowed the list down to four for interviews. Two of the four bowed out, leaving Blevins and Dr. Amanda Green, Dyslexia Specialist with Ozarks Unlimited Resources Educational Service Cooperative in Harrison and a former Dyslexia Specialist with the Mountain Home School District.
Norfork School Board President Josh Davis says it was Blevins’ past history that gave him the edge in getting the job.
Listen:
Davis says the contract for Blevins is one year, but that is for a reason.
Listen:
Davis says they did that because Blevins has said he is not sure how long he plans to stay on the job. He had been retired since 2011 when he was hired as the interim superintendent.
Ford is a 2014 Mountain Home graduate. He has been teaching in Jenks, Oklahoma since 2019 and coaching an AAU team.
Norfork still has openings for high school science and English teachers and a baseball coach.
