A Missouri woman sentenced earlier this week for the murder of her ex-husband is now facing additional charges in Arkansas, including murder and attempted murder, authorities said Thursday.
Taylor Santiago, of Aurora, Missouri, was charged in Arkansas with murder, attempted murder, burglary, battery and endangering the welfare of a child, according to officials in Carroll County.
The charges follow her sentencing Tuesday in Missouri, where she pleaded guilty to fatally shooting her ex-husband, Troy Huffman, at an apartment complex in Aurora in January. A Missouri judge sentenced her to life in prison plus 41 years. Authorities said the couple’s son was present during the shooting.
Investigators allege that after the Missouri shooting, Santiago traveled to Arkansas and shot two people at a residence in Carroll County. One of the victims, identified as the father of another of Santiago’s children, suffered critical injuries. A woman at the same residence died from her injuries.
Santiago later returned to Aurora and surrendered to police. Aurora Police Chief Wes Coatney said the shootings appeared to be motivated by custody disputes involving Santiago and the fathers of her children.
