A woman was arrested Wednesday in Searcy County after a domestic disturbance in which a child was thrown against a wall, a woman was assaulted and 6 baby chickens where thrown into a running fan. Thirty-two-year-old Kelly Elaine Kiss of St. Joe was arrested Wednesday.
According to the probable cause affidavit from the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to address a domestic disturbance between two females.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with the victim who said earlier that morning she had been arguing with Kiss. Kiss was reported to have been consuming intoxicants. During the argument, Kiss shoved the victim, causing her to fall and step on a one-year-old female who was also in the residence. The victim then left the residence to calm down.
After a period of time, the victim returned to the residence, and began arguing with Kiss again. During the argument, Kiss spanked a three-year-old child three times, and threw the child against the wall, causing the child to strike its head. The mother of the victim, who was present during the altercation, left the residence with the three-year-old at this time.
The argument turned physical and the victim told deputies Kiss had struck her in the leg, scratched her face while removing her glasses, slammed her head against the wall, pulled her hair and choked her. Kiss attempted to lock the victim in the shower, when she failed, she shoved the victim’s head in the toilet, continuing to choke her.
When contacted, Kiss told deputies no altercation had occurred, but physical evidence proved her statement to be false.
After talking to the victim a second time, deputies were informed that Kiss had thrown six baby chickens into a fan, killing five of them and one was severely injured.
Kiss is charged with six counts of cruelty to animals, aggravated assault, first degree endangering welfare of a child, second degree domestic battery, and third degree endangering welfare of a child. She is being held in the Searcy County Detention Center with a bond set for $10,000.
