A man and woman were recently arrested in Baxter County following a pursuit which started in Marion County in which one of them tried to ditch drugs in a Lilo & Stitch house shoe he threw out the window. Arrested following the incident June 8 were 31-year-old Kelle E. Passmore of Mountain View and 57-year-old Mark Allen Pinkston of Batesville.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were notified of a slow speed pursuit by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office heading towards Baxter County on U.S. Highway 62 at 45 miles-per-hour. A Baxter County deputy met the vehicle at 62 and Short Street in Gassville. As the vehicle passed, the female driver was waving her arm out the window and making hand gestures at the deputy.

Their speed was down to 18-miles-per-hour as they approached Johnson Street. Suddenly, Passmore accelerated to 72-miles-per-hour as they passed the west entrance to Casey’s. Passmore then slammed on the brakes and turned onto CC Drive and sped down the dead end road. As the vehicle was slowing near a gate at the end of the road, the deputy saw Pinkston throw something out of the passenger side window.

The two were taken into custody and the deputy retrieved what was thrown from the window. It was a Lilo & Stitch house shoe and inside were clear plastic baggies and two unused syringes. Inside the car, deputies found two more syringes filled with what Pinkston said was crystal methamphetamine.

Pinkston is charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Passmore is charged with a felony count of fleeing and misdemeanor charges of careless and prohibited driving, speeding and not using a turn signal.

Both are free on $1,500 bond.
