Arkansas State Police Troopers confiscated more than 300 pounds of illegal drugs in two unrelated traffic stops within a single day, authorities said Thursday.

The first incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on June 19 along Interstate 30 in Clark County, when troopers pulled over a 2025 Toyota Camry for a traffic violation. During a search of the vehicle, troopers discovered 13 boxes containing over 150 bottles of Promethazine, a prescription medication often misused recreationally. The driver and passenger, both from Memphis, were arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center on multiple charges, including possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful delivery of depressants.

Later that morning, at approximately 11:45 a.m., another stop on Interstate 40 near the Arkansas-Oklahoma border led to the seizure of more than 177 pounds of methamphetamine. The drugs were found in duffel bags and boxes inside a GMC Acadia. Two men from Georgia were arrested and taken to the Crawford County Detention Center, where they face felony charges for drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Authorities said the seizures reflect the ongoing challenges of drug trafficking through Arkansas and highlight the continued efforts of law enforcement to intercept illegal substances on the state’s highways.
