The Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society will be hosting a popular Arkansas cooking personality on Tuesday as part of it’s monthly meeting at the Donald W. Reynolds Library serving Baxter County.

Phyllis Speer of Buffalo City has entertained and educated audiences across the state for years with her appearance on AETN public broadcasting shows such as Arkansas Outdoors and the popular Cooking on the Wildside which remains in rotation to this day. The member of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Hall of Fame will present ‘Going Dutch’ at the library Tuesday evening where Speer will share her many recipes and elevated approach to Dutch oven cooking.

The Baxter County resident was a recent guest on KTLO’s Talk of the Town and says she was honored to receive the invite to share her love of cooking.

Traditional cooking methods, like Dutch oven cooking, were once a very strong part of Arkansas culture and Speer says connecting to the past through food helps ground the individual and connects them back to nature.
