As the curbside recycling program in Mountain Home comes to an end this week the Baxter Day Service is reminding the public that this is not the end of recycling in the city.
Baxter Day Service Center Executive Director Paul Neal says recyclables can still be brought to their location off of Rossi Road.

The Baxter Day Service, which offers educational and workplace opportunities for mentally challenged individuals in Baxter County, has been under increased workforce and financial strains prompting the announcement to stop curbside program in early May which Neal says was a long time coming.

Kelly Shrake a long time manager at the center says cardboard, paper, glass and plastics are being received and says following a few steps will make the process easier for first time visitors.

Neal says losing the nearly $1,700 monthly from the recycling contract with the city will hurt the center. He says they do some recycling jobs for Baxter Healthcare. They also get $50,000 in funding annually from Baxter County, but they do not get any direct support from the city.
He wanted to emphasize their commercial cardboard program will continue and residents will still be able to drop off their recyclables off at the center on Rossi Road. He asks that the recyclables be clean and no trash be left.
