A Baxter County man attempted suicide by slitting his wrists Monday afternoon in front of the Mountain Home Walmart store. The 41-year-old Clarkridge man was taken to Baxter Health for treatment of his injuries.

According to Mountain Home Police Chief Eddie Griffin, quick action by a Walmart employee helped save the man’s life. The employee applied tourniquets to both arms to get the bleeding slowed before any emergency personnel arrived.

The incident report indicates the man was losing consciousness when police arrived and he had lacerations on each arm.

The man had exited the store from the secondary exit of the grocery entrance near the kayak display located outside of the building.

The incident was reported at 3:57 Monday afternoon.
