A rural Mountain Home man has been arrested for intentionally causing an accident while he was arguing with his girlfriend while they were driving. Forty-five-year-old Michael Lynn Kennedy is facing a felony charge of aggravated assault for the incident which happened April 16.
According to the probable cause affidavit from Mountain Home Police, Kennedy and his girlfriend were traveling on Arkansas State Highway 201 and started arguing. The girlfriend told police Kennedy grabbed the steering wheel and jerked it, causing the vehicle to cross the other lane of traffic. The vehicle then left the roadway, struck a culvert and began to roll before coming to rest in the wood line.
Kennedy was taken to Baxter Health by ambulance. He was interviewed at the hospital and told police the two were arguing and he punched the steering wheel, but he did not remember anything after leaving the roadway.
Kennedy was arrested last Friday and is free on $5,000 bond.
