The Arkansas State women’s basketball team fell behind late in the first quarter and was unable to recover, dropping a 97-75 decision to Missouri Tuesday night at Mizzou Arena.
Zyion Shannon led the Red Wolves with 26 points, shooting 9-of-23 from the field and 5-of-13 from three-point range. D’Arrah Allen added 17 points, including 9-of-10 from the free-throw line, resetting her season high. Missouri’s Grace Slaughter paced the Tigers with 23 points on 64% shooting.
Arkansas State shot 36.4% from the floor and hit 13-of-30 threes (43.3%), while Missouri finished 56.1% overall and 47.4% from beyond the arc. The Tigers outrebounded the Red Wolves 46-28 and dominated in the paint 52-20, though A-State forced 24 turnovers, including 10 steals.
After trailing 17-14 at the end of the first quarter, A-State went scoreless for six minutes spanning the first and second periods before Mia Tarver broke the drought with a three-pointer. The Tigers led 42-25 at halftime and extended their advantage to 75-54 entering the fourth quarter.
Shannon scored 17 points in the third, hitting four threes, but Missouri’s offense kept pace with 33 points in the frame. Allen went a perfect 7-for-7 at the line in the final quarter as A-State was edged 2221.
