The Mountain Home Bomber basketball team opened their season on Thursday night. In their season opener Mountain Home went on the road to Fort Smith Northside and lost 44-41.

Mountain Home would mount a small rally to close out the quarter 13-6. The second quarter did see Mountain Home outscore the Grizzlies 13-11 on the back of 5 points in the quarter from Rhett Gilbert. The Bombers would trail 24-19 into the halftime break. Drew Haney would score 6 of his 13 points in the 3rd quarter and Mountain Home would be down 34-28 heading into the final quarter. Mountain Home was able to tie the ballgame 3 times but could never get over the hump to take the lead in the final quarter. Mountain Home had an opportunity trailing 43-41 to take the lead but the shot from Filbert was missed. After fouling on the missed shot Northside would make 1 of 2 free throws to go up 44-41. Mountain Home would have one final shot at the buzzer but it wouldn’t fall and the Bombers fell 44-41.
