According to the probable cause affidavit, a Baxter County sheriff’s deputy responded to the report of an accident July 22. The deputy found a vehicle, a 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe, in a ditch along Jordan Road. At the time he arrived, the deputy reported no one was around it.
The person who initially reported the accident said one man had been in the car when he came upon the scene. The man in the car was reported to have said he did not need medical attention and was waiting on a tow truck.
On the day of the accident, a victim called the sheriff’s office to report his car had been stolen from his driveway along U.S. Highway 62 East. The victim said a .22 rifle had been in the backseat.
The deputy who worked the accident said he had not seen a weapon in the wrecked car.

He refused to divulge the name of the buyer.
