Two people died in a house fire in Izard County early Thursday morning. According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy on patrol discovered the fire about 3:40 Thursday morning in the 5000 block of Arkansas State Highway 56 in Violet Hill. Deputies were able to confirm the occupants of the house were believed to be at home at the time of the fire.Fire fighters from Violet Hill and Melbourne battled the blaze. Once it was brought under control, the bodies of two people were found inside the residence. Their bodies have been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for positive identification and to determine the cause of death.
The sheriff’s office has not released any names pending the notification of next of kin.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
