Bakersfield high school gets new science and tech tools thanks to $513,000 grant

Bakersfield high school is expanding course offerings in the science and medical fields thanks to a $513,000 grant from the federal government. Superintendent Amy Padgett says they are using the grant to enhance their science, career and technical fields and classroom technology, and it’s providing items not seen in many learning environments around the state.

The grant also provides a virtual reality career and technical lab.

Padgett says the grant will also provide some updated classroom technology and will enable them to facilitate more long distance learning.

The Bakersfield superintendent says they are working on a $400,000 grant right now that would expand their career and technical programs. If they are able to secure that grant, they want to construct a new building for their trades and advanced welding programs.
