7 small quakes recorded in Lynn over weekend

A series of seven small earthquakes rattled the region near Lynn, 85 miles east of Mountain Home, from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Geological Survey.

The tremors, with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 2.2, struck at shallow depths of 2 to 4 kilometers, with epicenters clustered 1.5 to 2.4 miles west-northwest of the small town of Lynn in Lawrence County which is 38 miles northwest of Jonesboro.

The sequence began with a magnitude 2.0 quake at 5:20 evening Saturday, followed by a magnitude 1.8 event that evening at 9:12 , a magnitude 1.5 tremor at 12:11 a.m. Sunday, a magnitude 1.9 at 3:35 in the afternoon followed a minute later by another 2.0 magnitude tremor , a magnitude 2.1 quake, at 7:35 Sunday evening. Less then 30 minutes later at 8:02 the largest a 2.2 magnitude tremor was recorded by the USGS.
