A Northeast Arkansas man who was found passed out in his vehicle at a Mountain Home business last week, refused to get out when officers arrived and backed into a Mountain Home Police unit. Forty-year-old Ian Vaughn Beck of Corning is facing six charges for the incident.
According to the incident report from the Mountain Home Police Department, officers were called to the O’Reilly Auto Parts store on Main Street shortly after 5:00 last Wednesday evening for a report of a vehicle that had been parked and running for about two hours.
When an officer knocked on the window, Beck would look at him and pass back out. At one point, Beck cracked his window, mumbled some slurred words that were beyond recognition, and put the window back up.
More officers arrived and Beck was given orders to exit the vehicle. Instead, he put the vehicle in reverse and backed into a patrol unit.
Officers eventually broke a window on Beck’s vehicle and pulled him out and took him into custody. Beck had a baggie with 13.5 grams of a white crystalline substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine on his person along with an unused syringe, brass knuckles and a knife. Inside the vehicle officers found a BB gun and a large amount of cash.
Beck is facing a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine along with misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated, refusing to submit to a chemical test, resisting arrest, having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and obstructing governmental operations. His bond on those charges is set at $10,000 and he is being held for a parole violation.
Police Chief Eddie Griffin tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News damage to the police vehicle was minimal.
PRIOR ARRESTS
Beck has six prior felony arrests in Arkansas dating back to 2014 in Sebastian, Crawford, Craighead and Greene counties.
His charges have included delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, second degree battery and possession of firearms by certain persons.
He has twice been sentenced to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
