Some workers will see an extended Christmas break this year, while many local services and businesses will continue to operate as usual on the Friday after Christmas.
On Dec. 18, President Donald Trump issued an executive order naming Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas as federal holidays in 2025. With Christmas falling on a Thursday, the order allows some federal employees to have time off from Dec. 24 through Dec. 26.
County offices in the area will be closed Friday following a proclamation by the governor and the federal holiday designation. The closure gives county employees additional time with their families during the Christmas holiday.
Mail service will continue as normal. The Mountain Home Post Office, along with nationwide postal operations, will remain open, and mail will be delivered Friday.
Financial institutions in Mountain Home will mostly operate on a normal schedule. The Federal Reserve will be open Friday. Most banks will follow regular business hours, but a few have adjusted their schedules.
Banks with changes to Friday in Mountain Home include:
– Farmers and Merchants Bank: Open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
– Century Bank of the Ozarks: All branches will close at 1 p.m.
