Arkansas Children’s announced it has received a historic $50 million gift from philanthropist and entrepreneur B. Thomas Golisano, the largest single philanthropic donation in the health system’s history.
Hospital officials said the gift will support program development, workforce recruitment and facility upgrades. In recognition of the donation, the Arkansas Children’s campus in Little Rock will be renamed the Arkansas Children’s Golisano Campus.
“Children’s hospitals are essential to the health and future of our communities,” Golisano said in a statement, citing Arkansas Children’s commitment to pediatric care, access and innovation.
The donation also brings Arkansas Children’s into the Golisano Children’s Alliance, a network of 12 children’s hospitals focused on advancing pediatric health care nationwide.
Fred Scarborough, executive vice president and chief development officer for Arkansas Children’s, said the investment reflects confidence in the system’s long-term vision. He noted Arkansas Children’s is investing more than $371 million overall to expand access and fuel innovation.
Arkansas Children’s President and CEO Marcy Doderer said the gift will help strengthen care, research and outcomes for patients across the region, calling it a significant step in expanding high-quality pediatric care closer to home for families in the heartland.
