One of five people facing state and federal drug trafficking charges was rearrested less than a week after posting a $25,000 bond in his federal court case.
Twenty-two-year-old Cameron Mitch Baker, Jr., of Calico Rock was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center just after 4:30 p.m. on December 27. The new charges listed against him include being a felon in possession of a firearm, 2nd degree terroristic threatening, 2nd degree criminal mischief and possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond is listed at slightly more than $100,000.
There is also a hold on Baker from the U.S. Marshals Service. The hold was issued the same day he was arrested in Baxter County on new charges.
Baxter County sheriff’s deputies were called to an address along County Road 249 based on a report that Baker had allegedly taken a cellphone from his grandmother, make threats and damaged the residence. The 911 caller was listed as Baker’s mother. She said the family “had fought to get (Baker) home to spend the holidays with his kids.”
According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s office, Baker left the scene of the disturbance and was “picked up by a female with black hair.”
A detention hearing in Baker’s case was held in the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas December 22. After the hearing, the court set the bond at $25,000 and placed a large number of conditions on the bond that Baker was ordered to follow.
The government objected to the court’s decision to allow Baker to go free on bond.
According to federal court records, he was released into the custody of his grandmother and required to submit to supervision by the U.S. Probation Office, restricted to his grandmother’s resident from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., allowed to travel only in certain area of the Western District of Arkansas and required to wear a location monitoring device. He was also required to report as soon as possible to pretrial services or a supervising officer “every contact with law enforcement personnel, including arrests, questioning or traffic stops.”
Baker was also ordered to have no contact with a person identified as his “co-conspirator,” 21-year-old Kandence Martin. Baker was arrested in Martin’s apartment November 3.
When officers went to the apartment to serve a search warrant, Martin was reported to have answered the door. Baker was found asleep in a bedroom and taken into custody.
Martin is charged with trafficking a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Martin is reported to have put up more than $15,000 in cash to obtain Baker’s original bond in Baxter County which had been set at $150,000.
During a search of a safe found in the apartment, police discovered 1.5 pounds of suspected cocaine, two firearms and $11,600 in cash.
Both Baker and Martin are represented by Gray Dellinger and Emily Reed.
