The Baxter County Conservation District is offering a $500 scholarship to a local high school student planning to study agriculture, environmental science, or conservation, officials said.

The scholarship is part of a statewide education program. Winners at the district level may also compete at area and state levels, with the Arkansas Association of Conservation Districts awarding additional scholarships of $1,000 and $500 based on student essays.

Eligible students must be sophomores, juniors, or seniors with a minimum 2.5 grade-point average and residents of Baxter County pursuing a conservation-related course of study. Applications are due by Feb. 6, 2026, at the Baxter County Conservation District office, 406 W. Wade Ave., Suite 2, Mountain Home.

Entry forms and contest rules are available from high school counselors, 4-H and FFA leaders, FBLA sponsors, Scout leaders, county extension agents, the Baxter County Library, and the Cooperative Extension Service Office. For more information, call the district office at 870-425-3527, Extension 3.
