NCA Humane Society marks 50 years of caring for community pets

For 50 years, the North Central Arkansas Humane Society has served the Twin Lakes area by providing care, resources, and solutions for local animals. Shelter Manager Carolyn Carter says the organization began in 1976 as a foster-based effort and has since helped millions of pets.A major focus of the Humane Society is spay and neuter services, which Carter says are essential to reducing pet overpopulation.

In addition to caring for animals in the shelter, Carter says the organization also offers several services designed to support pet owners in the community.

The organization relies heavily on volunteers and community support. It’s thrift store is staffed by volunteers and stocked with donated items, and Carter says it serves as the Humane Society’s primary source of income.
