The Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an inmate who was found unresponsive in his cell at Unit II of the Faulkner County Detention Center.
Detention personnel discovered the inmate at approximately 9:30 p.m. and immediately requested medical assistance, authorities said.
The inmate was transported by Pafford Emergency Medical Services to the emergency room at Baptist Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation into the death is underway, which officials said is standard procedure in cases involving inmate fatalities. No additional details have been released.
