Mountain Home will host C.A.S.T. for Kids Saturday, April 18 at McCabe Park, offering a day of fishing and community support for children with special needs.
Local coordinators Christie and Denver West tell KTLO News C.A.S.T. stands for Catch A Special Thrill and the event, now in its fourth year locally, has been active since 1991 serving over 139,000 children with special needs and their families by hosting over 1,500 events in 30 states. Each participant is paired one-on-one with a volunteer assisting them throughout the day.

Denver says there are smiles all around and when a fish is caught all the children get excited.
Participants receive fishing equipment, T-shirts and a plaque, with an awards presentation held at the end of the event. Christie says that there are many memorable moments as the participants receive their awards.
Volunteers are still needed for tasks including registration and assisting children. To register visit their website or call Christie at 870-632-9498 or Denver at 870-632-9499.
