An Izard County man has been arrested for threatening to kill his son. Being held in the Izard County Jail is 56-year-old Steven Ray Conyers of Melbourne.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Izard County Sheriff’s office, deputies were sent to Conyers’ house Sunday night after it was learned he had sent texts to both his son and daughter, violating conditions of his bond from an arrest six days earlier for misdemeanor charges of harassment.

In the texts to his son, one message said “Offer still stand? No cops, winner takes all?” The next message read “When I say all, I will kill you. Winner takes all?”

When deputies arrived, Conyers would not cooperate and eventually had to be tased before they could take him into custody.

Conyers is facing a felony charge of terroristic threatening and a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. His bond is set at $50,000.

PREVIOUS FELONY ARREST

Conyers has a previous felony arrest in Izard County for terroristic threatening in 2024.

In that incident, Conyers was intoxicated and threatened to shoot three people at a residence. When the three were leaving, they told deputies Conyers fired a gun twice in their direction.

Conyers was charged with three counts of terroristic threatening. In a negotiated plea deal, he was sentenced to five years of probation.
