A Conway man is facing a capital murder charge after police say his infant child died following a week-long hospitalization.
According to the Conway Police Department, officers were called to a local hospital April 24 after reports of an infant suffering from critical injuries.
An investigation was launched, and the child’s father, James Dunbar Jr., was arrested on multiple felony charges, including first-degree domestic battery and three counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor.
Police say the infant later died after about a week of treatment.
Following the child’s death, prosecutors upgraded the charges to capital murder at the request of Conway police.
Authorities have not released additional details about the child’s age or how the injuries occurred.
The investigation is ongoing.
