The North Little Rock Fire Department responded Thursday morning to an unusual rescue involving a raccoon trapped in a dumpster.
According to firefighters, the raccoon became stuck after squeezing its head through a small hole in the bottom of the dumpster but was unable to free itself.
Fire crews contacted North Little Rock Animal Services to help with the rescue. The raccoon, nicknamed “Rocket,” was safely sedated before firefighters cut and widened the metal opening enough to remove the animal without injury.
Officials said Rocket was later relocated to Burns Park, where the raccoon is recovering comfortably.
The fire department later joked on social media that “you truly see it all in the fire service.”
