Mountain Home’s Jackson Free has been named the Arkansas Male High School Runner of the Year.

Free received the honor this week during ceremonies hosted by the Arkansas Cross Country and Track and Field Hall of Fame. He was presented the award by Hall of Fame Board of Directors member Cari Rector.

The recognition comes following a standout high school career that established Free as one of the state’s top distance runners. He helped lead Mountain Home’s cross country and track programs while earning numerous individual honors along the way.

Free recently signed to continue his academic and athletic career at the University of Arkansas, where he will compete in cross country for the Razorbacks.

The statewide award recognizes Free as the top male high school distance runner in Arkansas for the 2025-26 school year.
