U.S. Marshals arrest Hope man wanted on rape charge

A Hope man wanted on a rape charge has been arrested following a multi-state fugitive investigation.

According to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service, Lance Brewer was taken into custody Tuesday evening in Texarkana, Texas.

Authorities say the investigation began May 12 when the Hope Police Department obtained an arrest warrant charging Brewer with one count of rape. The Hope Police Department then requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force in locating him.aaaa

The Marshals Service says the search for Brewer spanned several weeks and involved multiple states.

On June 2, investigators located Brewer at a residence in Texarkana, Texas. He was arrested on the outstanding Arkansas warrant with assistance from the Hope Police Department, the Eastern District of Texas U.S. Marshals Service, the Texas Department of Public Safety and Homeland Security.

The U.S. Marshals Service said its fugitive task forces combine federal, state and local law enforcement resources to locate and apprehend wanted offenders.

According to the agency, U.S. Marshals arrested more than 74,000 fugitives and cleared nearly 89,000 warrants nationwide in 2024.
