The Kansas City Chiefs have rewarded quarterback Patrick Mahomes with a contract extension that will keep him with the franchise through the 2033 season.According to reports, the Chiefs added two years to Mahomes’ deal, increasing its total value to $504.75 million. The agreement makes Mahomes the first NFL player to sign a contract worth more than $500 million.
The extension also raises Mahomes’ average annual salary to $64 million, the highest in the league. Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott ranks second at $60 million per season.
Mahomes originally signed a 10-year, $450 million contract with Kansas City in 2020. Since then, he has led the Chiefs to five Super Bowl appearances in six seasons and helped the franchise capture three championships.
The 30-year-old owns the most regular-season wins and playoff victories by a quarterback before age 31, with 95 regular-season wins and 17 postseason victories.
Kansas City hopes the extension will keep Mahomes at the center of the franchise for years to come as the Chiefs continue their pursuit of additional Super Bowl titles.
