A familiar voice to KTLO listeners has spent the week in Little Rock she competes for the title of Miss Arkansas.
Mountain Home’s Rebecca Zurcher earned her spot in the state competition after being crowned Miss Apple Blossom earlier this year. The Mountain Home native, and KTLO employee first competed in the Miss Arkansas organization as a teenager, but believed her opportunity had passed before the age limit was increased, allowing her to return to competition.
In addition to preparing for Miss Arkansas, Zurcher has used her title to promote her community service initiative, “Hometown Matters,” which focuses on highlighting positive stories and people making a difference across the Twin Lakes Area.
Now, after months of preparation, the week she has worked toward has finally arrived.
KTLO News spoke with Zurcher about her experience at Miss Arkansas so far.

Zurcher is also sharing the experience with her Diamond, her niece Ella. The Arkansas Diamonds program pairs young participants with Miss Arkansas contestants and titleholders throughout the competition process.
Contestants keep a busy schedule throughout the week as they prepare for multiple phases of competition while balancing appearances, interviews and rehearsals.
With preliminary competition complete, attention now turns to Saturday night’s finale. Zurcher explains how the crowning process will work as contestants await the announcement of the next Miss Arkansas.
